Booqoos and FirePit Ceramics invite the Austin community to join them for a family- and dog-oriented play day at the first annual Pupapalooza event on Sunday, August 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Balcones Woods Shopping Center, 11150 Research Blvd in Northwest Austin.
The goal of Pupapalooza, produced by Booqoos and FirePit Ceramics, is to provide a day of live entertainment, food, games, and activities from local vendors, while raising money and awareness for the efforts of the Austin Humane Society and Animal Trustees of Austin. Tickets to Pupapalooza can be purchased in advance at Booqoos.com for $ 10 or at the door for $ 12, and the event is free for children under 12.
All proceeds from Pupapalooza will be donated to two local animal-focused nonprofit groups. The Austin Humane Society, a no-harm, no-kill shelter, will host dog adoptions at Pupapalooza. Animal Trustees of Austin, which works to help lost, abused and abandoned animals in the area, will create customized dog tags at the event. Booqoos and FirePit Ceramics also encourage personal donations from event attendees to these organizations.
?Booqoos and FirePit Ceramics were looking for a way to host a festive celebration together while also giving back to the community that we love and that supports us, ? said Skyler Lewis of FirePit Ceramics. ?Pupapalooza was the answer?the biggest and best family- and dog-oriented event that benefits the important work of the Austin Humane Society and Animal Trustees of Austin.?
?Pupapalooza is sure to be a great time, bringing fun and educational activities to the dog-loving Austin community,? said Scott Grady of Booqoos. ?Our hope is to make this an annual event that Austin families (and their pets) look forward to year-round. It?s a great opportunity for us to help out the more vulnerable members of our community?the animals.?
Food, entertainment, activities, discounted services and silent auction donations will be provided by dozens of local vendors sponsoring the event, including: Red Diversions, IREP, Kids Cook, Dr. Bendall?s Vet, Ah Chihuahua Rescue, J Neal Art, Sustainable Foods, Mistress Stephanie & Her Melodic Cat, Austin Daily Press, mmmpanadas, Lick It Bite it or Both, Kate?s Southern Comfort, South Austin People (SOAP), AIBA, Tammy Brazel Graphic Artist, Twin Liquors, Ideal Productions, Premiere Tents and Events, You Might Think We?re Sharks, Austin Outhouse, The Austin Fire Department, FirePit Ceramics, Go Local Austin, Dirty Dog, Alamo Drafthouse, Cat?s Customs, Metrodog, KUT 90.5 FM, Book a Vet, Schlotzsky?s, Frigid Frog, Outhouse Designs, Mom and Pops, Worley Printing, Austin?s Park & Pizza, Adaptive Reuse, Birds Barbershop, Dyezz Security, BBVA Compass, Norah Levine Photography, Clear, Frozy?s Shaved Ice, lizziebees, The Canine Hilton, Arbor Car Wash, Chi?Lantro BBQ, Rassizi Feathers, Costco, Kathy Smith Caricatures, The Last Domino, A Taste of Italy in Austin, and Callahan’s General Store.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2010
The Best Friends Animal Society of Kanab, Utah has lauded the Winnick Family Foundation for its support of the Society?s veterinary services and youth education programs within the Navaho Nation.
Anne Mejia, co-founder of Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, said: ?We very much appreciate the support received for our work from the Winnick Foundation. Through your generous help, you have once again touched the lives of the animals and people of the Navaho Nation.?
The Best Friends Animal Society is dedicated to the humane treatment and medical care of small pets and stray animals. In 2010, the Society?s program, supported in part by a Winnick Family Foundation grant, has provided treatment for more than 200 at-risk animals and given more than 4,000 pounds of animal food and nourishment to pet-owning Navaho families in need.
A humane education program sponsored by the Society in 2010 worked with ninety teens at Monument Valley High School interested in becoming veterinarians or veterinary-medicine technicians. Working with the program, the young students arranged a free spay-neuter day that saw twenty cats and dogs fixed and vaccinated, found permanent homes for 50 abandoned, free-roaming dogs and set up three runs into remote areas to rescue dogs in danger.
Gary Winnick, founder and chairman of Pacific Capital Group, said: ?The Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab is doing remarkable work and setting a standard for the humane treatment of small animals across the vast territory of the Navaho Nation. We are very proud to support Society?s work and delighted that it has been able to not only care for at-risk animals but to encourage young Navahos to enter veterinary medicine.?
